Hey, everyone. I have just been going over the new and somewhat old abilities for the upcoming set, Scars of Mirrodin. This is a bit nostalgic for me because Mirrodin happens to be one of my favorite sets, due to the fact I love artifact cards. For those who need a brush-up on the old Mirrodin abilities, be sure to watch the next episode of Magical Mechanix.
Even with the return to Mirrodin, we still have another return: in the form of Phyrexia. We have seen many Phyrexian cards in the past and they are making a comeback in the new upcoming set. This time, instead of the Coalition, they will be fighting the Mirrans, the natural inhabitants of Mirrodin. Practically all of the cards (not including the land cards) will have a watermark symbol behind the text box. Some long-playing players will find a resemblance with the old Ravnica block in which affiliated guilds have their own cards.
However, unlike Ravnica, there are only two symbols; Phyrexia and Mirran. The Mirran symbol has some resemblance to the Boros symbol. The difference is that Mirran is a circle with five small arcs near the top, indicating the five suns of Mirrodin. The Phyrexia symbol is pretty simple as well; a circle with a vertical gash mark.
Be wary of the new abilities in the upcoming set. As I have said in my title, the scars will come . . . the Scars of Mirrodin.
